George Slusher

George S. Slusher grew up in Floyd County, Virginia on a beef cattle farm.  He graduated from Virginia Tech in 1985 with a BS degree in Agriculture Education.  After a short teaching experience, he spent three years as an Agricultural Specialist with the USDA Farmer's Home Administration.  In 1990 George returned to Floyd County to be an agent for Virginia Farm Bureau Mutual Insurance Company, a position he maintained until his retirement in January 2020.  George had an almost 30 year insurance career before becoming a Registered Representative with Southern Farm Bureau Life Insurance Company in 2000 and moving to Invest Financial in 2010, then later to LPL. George retired in 2020.

 

George is married and resides in Floyd on a small farm.  In retirement George balances playing golf and music (guitar, mandolin, banjo) with a part-time business consulting enterprise.
